Summer Interventionist

Durham, North Carolina, United States · Middle School Program · 008

Our Mission

Student U is a college-access and success organization that believes all students in Durham have the ability to succeed. We know that structural racism, poverty and other systemic injustices force our students to face significant obstacles to educational success. We want to change the odds for children in the Durham community. We believe our students are powerful, and that this power will help us realize a Durham where all students can succeed.

The Work

Our Summer Academy staff are excited to facilitate learning and create an environment for students to succeed.

We are hiring staff to work in our Summer Academy program, providing academic enrichment and structured new experiences. In Summer Academy, we are committed to helping our students feel success and growth by providing thoughtful, intentional academic experiences, and sharing our own excitement around academic content.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Student U Middle School Interventionist!

Student U Summer Interventionists are licensed, experienced educators who are present part-time in the summer to support middle school students who are behind grade level in some capacity and/or could benefit from more individualized instruction. During Student U’s Middle School Summer Academy, interventionists are on site from 7:30-12:00 each day to deliver targeted small-group instruction in either reading or math and to provide push-in support in other content areas. Interventions work to ensure all learners in our middle school Summer Academy are supported and thriving.

Interventionists are compensated for their prep work in the spring as well as their time present at Summer Academy.
